NEWS: Gabriela Leon Perez featured during Latine/x Heritage Month

October 12, 2022

In celebration of Latine/x Heritage Month, we wanted to feature Gabriela Léon-Pérez of Sociology at VCU, a Latina scholar in the College whose research agenda is grounded at the intersection of the sociology of migration and medical sociology. Dr. Léon-Pérez is currently working on a qualitative study in collaboration with colleagues in VCU’s School of Medicine to better understand Latinas’ attitudes towards genetic research.
Gabriela was born and raised in Mexico, where she earned a B.A. in International Studies from the Universidad de Monterrey. Later, she completed an M.A. in Sociology from Texas A&M International University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Vanderbilt University. You can read more about her work at https://gleonperez.weebly.com/
