Scholarships

The College of Humanities and Sciences offers more than 100 scholarship opportunities annually to currently enrolled students.

Of those, the following are offered to students specifically through the Department of Sociology, though there are more general scholarships in the full scholarship database for which students may qualify, as well. Our scholarships are supported by, or endowed in honor of, alums and former members of our faculty, in a tangible representation of their deep commitment to VCU and to sociology as a discipline.

  • Sociology Public Engagement and Personal Needs Scholarship: This scholarship will provide financial support to students with a major in the Department of Sociology who are in good academic standing with demonstrated financial need and are an active citizen in their community. Preference will be given to students who work with communities of color, indigenous communities or migrant communities.
  • Sociology Scholarship Fund: The Sociology Merit Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded annually to a rising sophomore, junior or senior with a declared major in sociology.
